Glasbake was originally introduced as "Glasbak Ware" by McKee in the early 1900's.  McKees' founder, a gentleman by the name of McKee Glasbak, wanted to name this new futuristic and versatile glass, after himself.   Shortly after, in 1917, an 'e' was added, and this glass became known as "Glasbake" from 1917 to 1953.  McKee Glass Co. made pressed glass, jadeite, white milk glass, black glass and of course, Glasbake.  McKee went through several partnerships and mergers.  In 1951, McKee became a division of the Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company, and the name of this product changed once more to "Glasbake by McKee Division of Thatcher Glass Corp".  In 1961, Thatcher sold the company to another glass manufacturer, Jeannette Glass Co.  Jeannette continued to make Glasbake but started to add a "J" in front of the number on the bottom. Other pieces would be stamped "Glasbake by Jeannette Glass".  Unfortunately Jeannette glass closed in 1983.
